Techie created fake website to make over 40+ Lakh

 Recently, the question of authenticity and security resurfaced when a 27-year-old Techie from Mumbai forged and replicated 14 websites to beguile innocent customers to extort 49 lakhs from them. This went on for a year until he was arrested this month from the district of Darbhanga in Bihar where he was on the hideout. He had been successful in manipulating company websites, making them look exact clones of the original ones which made it difficult for the customers to tell apart. He had also developed 150 websites of fake companies to allure people into giving money. It was a major tyre-giant that brought this to the notice of the cyber-crime branch following which the investigation was initiated and subsequently the fraud was nabbed. The police have also arrested a software engineer who, based in London earlier, also cloned and replicated a popular clothing website and hoodwinked customers.

This incident reiterates that it is not impossible to maneuver technology if one has access and the right knowledge of the same.
